La Grange's town square is centered around the courthouse that was built on April 9, 1891. The cornerstone for the current Fayette County Courthouse was laid by the local Masonic Lodge. The three-story building is a masonry and stone Romanesque Revival structure with a clock tower rising over the main entrance. All offices and the courtroom are arranged around a 30-foot by 30-foot square central courtyard. The exterior walls are built of Belton white limestone, complemented with blue sandstone quarried at the nearby Fayette County community of Muldoon. Red Pecos sandstone stringcourses and pink Burnet granite columns and steps

The surrounding commerce buildings were built by the two local Masonic Lodge families Hermes and Otto A. Hunger. These buildings are dated from as early as 1850s to 1940s. Many buildings in the square are occupied and rejeuvanted with businesses. The exteriors maintains the original masonic brickwork. Walk around the corners and see original tile work in front of door steps of the original store names that used to occupy the buildings.
