In preparations of the University of Houston's Tier One recognition, the interlocking UH mark is redesigned to stand out among other top tier universities. The final choice is the half split chiseled 3-D letterforms using a darker pantone red for the shaded bevels. Three more color versions are developed to cover any printing and color issues that may arise. For the academic seals of the University, the final design is a medalion of keystones with a slight dropshadow to match the simulated 3-dimensional look of the new interlocking mark. Cooperplate is chosen as the new typeface of the seal to be siliar to the hand drawn type of the old seal but bring more modern versatility for useage of a digitalized typeface.
